Today is World Food Day. As someone who is passionate about the food system and ensuring that everyone has healthy food to eat, I was delighted when I read that the World Food Program had won this years Nobel Peace Prize.
According to their website “the World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.”
During the Covid-19 pandemic we have seen hunger increase throughout the world leaving many close to starvation. The WFP was able to increase their efforts to make sure food reached those in need.
The peace prize couldn’t have gone to a better organization.
