The University of California School of Agriculture and Natural resources recently held a webinar on the effect of wildfires on food safety. They were looking at the long term affects of the fires on the soil health and the effect of post wildfire contaminants on produce and livestock. There is concern that the plants and animals may uptake contaminants which we then consume. While this might only seem relevant to people in California, it is important to remember how much of our food is grown by Californian farmers.
