Hopefully by now we all know that it is important to clean our hands often and correctly. However, a recent survey carried out on the behalf of Food Standards Scotland showed that less than a third (29%) of people always use soap or hand wash and water when they are at home. The survey results also showed that only 44% of respondents always wash their hands before eating, and only 85% of respondents always wash their hands after going to the toilet. Eek.
How often do you wash your hands and do you follow the 20 sec rule?
Food Standards Scotland even has YouTube videos on why it is important to wash your hands and how to wash your hands correctly, even though in the last one you need to clean your jewelry before putting it on again and perhaps roll your sleeves up before your hands get contaminated. I don’t wear jewelry for this reason and I mostly have short or rolled up sleeves when I am in the kitchen or food lab.
Are you training your employees and co-workers on how to wash their hands correctly? If not, book a call today and we can discuss how to put a training program together.
