Searching for pictures representing sugar was an interesting choice first thing this morning. Image of sugar lumps from Pixabay
A month ago I shared that the Mexican state of Oaxaca was banning the sale of sugary snacks to children and today we continue this discussion with an article discussing that it is imperative for governments to implement a sugar tax:
“If we want to curb obesity and make it easier for everyone to choose and consume healthy foods, more governments should be following countries like Mexico and Chile.”
While this article feels like an advert for Bloomberg Philanthropies, it was interesting to see the Daily Telegraph, Britain’s right wing newspaper, publishing an article supporting government intervention and suggesting that a sugar tax as a good solution for the obesity epidemic.
What do you think of this? Is it time for America to wake up and have a sugar tax and put people’s health first?
