Recalls Due to Allergens

Snoballs, cakes, cookies etc.

If you don’t have an allergen program yet, I want to know why! The last five food recalls on FDA’s Recall List are caused by the presence of allergens in the food that are NOT on the label.

Hostess has a voluntary recall of their Snoballs because they were packaged in a Hostess Chocolate CupCake package that doesn’t list coconut. Let alone your disappointment to get Snoballs® when you were expecting a chocolate cup cake!

The other recalls are more regional than the Snoball recall. They involve undeclared wheat in chocolate malt balls, undeclared hazelnuts in cakes and undeclared milk in cookies. This last one was caused by the vegan chocolate used in the Goji Berry and Chocolate cookies having a trace of milk proteins.
