While we know that COVID-19 is not spread by food or packaging and that it isn’t a foodborne virus like norovirus, my reaction to the news that the Chinese government had found COVID-19 in ice cream was “yikes”. Mostly because the brief summary suggests that the personnel hygiene and the cleaning and sanitation protocols at that facility were severely lacking. Especially as the article says “Cleanliness has been introduced.”
