How do you imagine food is delivered to the local supermarket? Is it like in the picture? Or is it in large sanitized trucks? Do you have a preference?
A recent survey of 1000 Americans showed that half were concerned about the safety of their food and worry about fresh, perishable and frozen food during transportation to stores. I’m a bit suspicious of this survey btw because the company that carried it out supplies equipment to help with the cold chain. That is with the delivery of fresh, perishable and frozen foods. That doesn’t mean this is an issue food businesses can ignore! Far from it. Sanitary transportation is one of the new codes in FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act. Small businesses especially should make sure that their food products can be shipped safely and without cross contamination or allergen cross contact as they cannot afford to keep their products separate like large companies.
