Last week’s webinar was an excellent start to the 2021 Food Literacy for All series where guest speakers Ricardo Salvador and Raj Patel gave a their perspective to the future of the food system and the challenges we have to get there. It was very positive with concrete steps going forward.
In many ways it was a great follow up from Wayne Roberts’ idea of food in the public interest as Ricardo suggested that the best way forwards was to recognize food as human right.
Ricardo and Raj provided an invigorating, yet grounded glimpse into a future that is not bound by the limitations of our current capitalist, white supremacist, and inefficient food system. I’m now thinking about how food scientists must fill the gap between farming and consumers. I wonder what will have to change?
You can watch the talk here! I would love to hear from you. Do you think this future is possible?
