FDA Warning Letter about Lack of Foreign Supplier Verification Program
Imported food and ingredients must be assessed for safety
You must have a Foreign Supplier Verification Program If you are importing food products or ingredients. The FSVP regulation is part of the Food Safety Modernization Act and requires that importers verify that human and/or animal food imported into the United States has been produced in a manner that meets applicable U.S. food safety standards. Every imported food product and ingredient is required to have a FSVP that assesses the risks and make sure they are controlled. Don’t be like IMAD International and wait for the FDA to tell you something is missing in your food safety program.
For many small food manufacturers, including start-up and entrepreneurs, the FSVP is carried out by your import distributor.Â
If you are worried that you don’t have a FSVP for all your imported food product and ingredients, do not leaving it to chance and schedule a call today. We can help sort out a robust FSVP for you.
