Food Safety Mid Atlantic
Food News December 2020
Like me, I am sure you have read too many reviews of 2020; most of which are of the “don’t slam the door on your way out” variety.
I guess I am lucky because while 2020 was hard, scary, anxiety-inducing, and lonely, I found time to look into myself and I like what is there. I was able to do this because I wasn’t constantly on the move. Having time to slow down and examine my life to work out what is essential to my wellbeing and what I could jettison was amazing.
The first change was my business name. Food Industry Employment Program no longer fits me or what I do, so I am now doing business as Food Safety Mid Atlantic and updated my website to match. I am thinking of making a more personal change to my business in the new year - watch this space! Please let me know what you think of the current website. It is, as I am, a work in progress.
I am also writing more. Not only this monthly newsletter, also there are daily Food Crumbs and blog posts. I find it helpful to share what I read, especially in short form that expresses seemingly complex regulations or science in a paragraph or two.
What will 2021 Bring?
New adventures, hopefully! I definitely want to visit my family, my friends and, you, my clients.
I shall live my values of learning and creativity through connections and community building. Self discovery and exploration are now ongoing for me. I am grateful for podcasts like Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead and Krista Tippett’s On Being. I will continue to read widely. If you have any recommendations for podcasts or books, please share them with me.
I shall complete my book in 2021. I have the shape of it now and mostly sketched out. I have found time every day to write, mostly with London Writers Hour. Having this hour or two every day really helps make progress.
For my business, food safety is my main focus; supporting my client’s food safety, in particular. I hope to do more training, like the Better Processing Control School I just finished on commercial canning. Additional goals for 2021 include participating in more conferences, both virtually and in person later in the year, so that I can support my clients to the best of my ability. What are your 2021 business goals? Schedule a call so we can chat about how I can support you achieving them.
Happy New Year!
All the best,
Cathy
