News
I've been travelling a lot in October. At the beginning of the month I was in Santa Barbara attending Unlock Your Greatness, a two day seminar/workshop run by my life coach, Jesse Brisendine. It was wonderful and I learnt new ways to change my mindset to help me grow my business and end hunger at the same time. While in Santa Barbara I visited the Santa Barbara botanical gardens where only native plants are grown and there were some terrific views.
At the end of the month I attended one day of the People's Food Assembly in Philadelphia. I enjoyed learning about the different issues facing the food system especially the challenges facing college food service trying to bring more local and regional food into the cafeterias. You can read about the outcome here.
My final trip for October was attending the Food Incubation Summit. The conference was in Austin. As well as learning from other participants, we also toured some of the local food facilities.
I was a member of the Food Safety panel, with Angela Montalbano and Ned Klein with Jennifer Underwood as moderator. There was lots of discussion about food regulations as there is a lack of regulations directed at shared kitchens especially if they have CPG clients. We are starting a Shared Kitchen Food Safety Audit Working Group. If you are interested drop me an email.
I have some more travel coming up in November. Will I see you at the Food Tank Summit in New York? Or perhaps at It Takes a Region, the NESAWG conference in Jersey City.
I'll let you know what I learn in next month's newsletter.
As always, if you have any food safety or food science questions, let me know or set up a free food safety strategy call.
All the best,
Cathy
